The larger spool bearing beads are polished brass, which provides silky smooth bearing surfaces and the extra weight needed to hold fly parts secure when the bobbin is hanging. Lustrous wood trim enhances both function and aesthetics. Total length is 5 1/4 inches / 130mm.
